Lesson Plan 5: Is it Hot in Here?

How does this fit into the curriculum? Pupils should be taught to ask geographical questions (1a); to use secondary sources of information (2d); and to recognise changes in the environment (5a).

Teachers' Note: Global warming is a complex issue that we have included for this age group because of its importance. We have kept it simple for obvious reasons, but if you want to go into more detail and explain the role of greenhouse gases, please do!

Go through the listed facts with the pupils carefully so they understand the issue, drawing diagrams where appropriate to aid understanding. Set the questions as a written exercise. You may want to allow them time to research this issue further.
